Various Artists – Some Candy Before Christmas {CANDY002}

Artist: Various Artists
Title:
Some Candy Before Christmas
Label:
Candy Mind Records
Catalog #:
CANDY002
Release Date:
2004/12/20

The dark winter and the bright Christmas have come to the land of Candy Mind. We are celebrating with this release, trying to capture the feelings and movements of this introspective part of the year.

With “Some Candy Before Christmas”, we are showcasing all different kinds of frosty winter music; from Liquid Strangers December meditation “Ginger bread Juice” to Goto80s Santa’s-toy-factory-journey “Alaska”.
Dance to glittering, glitchy beats with Dorothy’s Magic Bag or chill out with Hectopascal during their Christmas promenade; with some candy, this winter will be something to remember.

1. HECTOPASCAL – TIME
To let you slip into the proper christmas mood, Hectopascal delivers a glimse of true winter bliss with their track Time.
A solemn hymn with lush harmonies and subtle ambiences. A perfect warmup for every kind of x-mas activity.

2. GOTO80 – RELAX ENJOY HELP
It is time for Goto80 to tell us all what Christmas is all about: relaxation, joy and generousity.
This cosy tune comes with an addictive hook and an overall joyful vibe that will make you smile.

3. LIQUID STRANGER – GINGER BREAD JUICE
Even (or especially?) during Christmas time we are in need of some rest and peace. This track is a deep and exploring meditation about the truth of gingerbread and candy syrup.
Hold your hat and follow the mind streams of Guru Liquid Stranger while he is showing us how (and how not) to make some refreshing ginger bread juice.

4. DOROTHY’S MAGIC BAG – FROST
After his stunning releases on Kahvi collective, Dorothy’s Magic Bag joins the Candy Mind crew and delivers a full-fledged christmas stormer. This frosty track is loaded with sharp, crisp beats, epic harmonies and the north wind can also be heard in a distance.

5. GOTO80 – ALASKA
Near the North Pole, on the coldest cape of the Alaska Peninsula, Goto80 is rushing forward on his sledge, toiling and moiling to get all the Christmas presents delivered on time.
Tonight our own 8-bit santa deputy is bustling about the planet, spreading chaos and laughter in all directions.

6. DIN STALKER – RATE YOUR MATE
Din Stalker is showing us a totally different aspect of December; a story about getting lost in snowstorms and then being forced to fight giant evil snowmen.
Join this chilly electronica adventure and find out what really happened to the snowmen, Din Stalker and the last days of December.

7. PALUESTIL – TALADMAI ROAD
Snow is falling down even on the tropical Taladmai road, making its ground and vegetation all white. No one less than Paluestil is there, playing in the snow and sending us a Christmas greeting card to tell us about the tropical snow.
Unfortunately the card was posted to late and will not get there in time. Sorry…

Catalog #:

Release Date:
2002/12/19
Re-Release Date:

In late 2000, 5 canadians and 4 americans formed dot9 to bring their music together as a collective. Independently the styles varied in large degrees, but often they would come together or team up with another member to write songs or to explore sound and rhythm techniques. Dot9 stopped in March, 2003.

This compilation contains nine examples of that union. They are the favorites of the abandoned and scattered collaborations of dot9. From heavily melodic moments to mind numbing madness, these songs are evidence of the unique combined energy that was dot9.

Various Artists – Sound Of Subnatura EP {mtk125}

Artist: Various Artists
Title:
Sound Of Subnatura EP
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk125
Release Date:
2004/02/04

Since we’ve previously released sparkling retro bleeps from Sweden’s Goto80, it was a natural progression, much like 50 Cent and G-Unit, to expand our focus to encompass his whole posse, the Subnatura collective. Thus, we get ‘The Sound Of Subnatura’, a 5-artist, 5-track EP which shows off the varying style of the Subnatura artists and their ‘good vibrations’.

So, we start with the quirky electronic breaks of Dorothy’s Magic Bag, all contrite but strident on ‘Syltpuss’, before breaking into the odd, striking triphop uneasiness of Liquid Stranger’s ‘Onda Ogat’, and then hitting up some pure, sinewave-inflected calm with Goto80’s alter ego Extraboy, and ‘Botch Tuck’. Then we hit the difficult but rewarding obtuseness of Slem’s ‘Tansa Disko’, before the beautifully poised finale of Inkinen, and the truly awesome cosmic drift of ‘Sensual’. All in all, the EP has an odd sense of whole which shows why the Subnatura boys came together in the first place, and why Monotonik is proud to be showcasing their talents. Let’s join together and wish them a good trip sub natura ad infinitum.

we’re re-releasing the first backtrack release, a chipdisk, with mp3s so that anyone can hear it, even if they don’t have windows OS or know what a module is! we hope that you will, however, investigate module and chipmusic, once you have a taste of this charming bleepy music. oh, don’t forget: if a song ends abruptly, it is probably meant to loop continuously until you get tired of it, so set your mp3 player accordingly.

backtrack’s first release was a chipdisk for a few reasons. mostly, we thought a huge chipdisk would be a cool way to start with a bang (or at least a few blips.) now, we wonder if we will ever even do another chipdisk. it was great fun, and there was a lot of talent on it.

nineteen artists were involved in the making of this thing, not counting the poor souls whose not-quite-fitting tunes were rejected. all this work adds up to 29 tunes and approximately 70.5 minutes of music for us.

please realize, though, we are not a chipgroup. a few of us enjoy making chiptunes, but some do not even know how.

many thanks to our wonderful guest-releasers! beautiful music, i must say. really, most of you guys and even the actual members (!) totally amaze me. i would never have imagined, i would be working with such talent so soon. thanks for letting me.

-valzi

respect to our friends and many thanks to those who have helped us get off the ground! metapathy, zinger, and vizion have been essential in making this, our grand opening, possible.

Release Date:
2004/01/02

For this first release it was set to unite some of the best musicians we know in different genres. Gathered here, they smoothly mind the gap between their respective styles; idm, guitar, one channel, low-fi, ambient, techno, etc., What better way to represent One and protest the shortsighted slant that ‘genres’ create, than to join it all under one roof? With contributions from Makunouchi Bento, Lackluster, Ronny Pries, randomajestiq, relative q, colophon, plosive, Sense, _KhlEr3L, pinkj, and Whitenoiz — You’d be hard pressed to find such a diverse album with this level of talent anywhere on the store shelves.

A year after the releasing of the first compendium, Ogredung proposes you a release even more surprising and passionate than the succesful Snowsky. Without replicating modules and strategies, our audacious experimentators reveal themselves as endowed with an outstanding creativity. The tasty carnet of contributors spaces in a variety of styles and tendencies that go from Paolo Veneziani’s (Tibprod, Cobalt) neo-cosmic sounds to Puyopuyo’s (19-t, Gagarin) fierce weirdo-synthpop, without losing sight of the common path that leads the whole work: autumn. Enwrapped by the delicate parfumes of Imtech’s (Observatoryonline) autumnal whispers, Urkuma, Phobode and Strinqulu’s (MikMusik, Merck, Saag) sonorous poetry and Kaneel’s (Camomille, Kikapu) nostalgic dronebeats, we are kicked up by Makunouchi Bento’s (Retinascan, Inpuj) subtle elaborate of obscure flows and the hypnotic hug of Luca Confusione; and still, Iermoç and Transient’s (Koept, Hippocamp, Monotonik, Skylab Operations) quasi-obsessive IDM-intricacy, Vizion’s (Monotonik, Camomille, Wikkid) determined melodic moments and Proswell’s (Merck, Civik, 19-t) top electronics. A live recording of Corkzal’s (Commie) perfectly closes the circle.

Amazing compendium of amazing artists for this second cd-r release on Ogredung (and 55th mp3 release as well), where we decided to include something like how_we_can_electro_xperiment_nowadays_during_xmas_period. And yes we love the result: from Makunouchi Bento’s white eclectic (and really xmas-ish) IDM, to Minez’s ultra-sharp IDM, passing through Hinori’s free-jazz, Paolo Veneziani’s kicking electro, Vizion’s aerial mellowness, Luca Sigurtà and Purusha’s mellow noise, Neelka’s breakbeat intelligence, Toshiaki Ooi’s cyber-idm ambient, Punck’s noisy minimalism, Luca Confusione’s droned electricities, ! ((0rkza1’s acid downbeat live.
