We wish you a merry christmas!

Here are presents from all over the world, delicatley crafted, uploaded and delivered to you as to celebrate a moment of joy, happiness and sharing. A moment of calm indeed.
Even, a moment of impatience… the impatience of a kid, waiting for his presents, trying to make a clever guess about the different presents he’ll receive. Remember?

We do.

From both sides of petite&jolie, everybody has been busy under the tree.
Musicians and drawers, both working on nice presents.
No real goals, no concepts.
Only the pleasure of pleasing.

Some musicians decided to share some private unreleased works, others decided to start from scratches a new tune while illustrators worked on cute covers for you to choose.

The results goes beyond expectations as with any new releases on petite&jolie, we finally broaden our spectrum of genres and colours for your pleasure only and we know you like this a lot.

So here come the best moment of the party, where you jump at the tree and finally discover the glowing packages and try to spot your name carefully written on them.

Well, today, obviously, everybody will get a gift from Petite&Jolie even if you’ve been bad during this year.
Let’s say it’s our way to thank you all for enjoying and following us.

A big thank you to all the following people who contributed.

Relative Q – Small Craft Exercise Caution {[one030]}

Artist: Relative Q
Title:
Small Craft Exercise Caution
Label:
 One
Catalog #:
[one030]
Release Date:
2007/06/08

Just over three years ago, Relative Q (Paul Zyla) was the first solo artist at One, so it is very befitting for us to present his latest work as our milestone 30th release. We have been sitting on this release for quite some time now and are excited to finally bring it to fruition.

Composed during the majority of 2006, ‘Small Craft Exercise Caution’ is a heady, personal affair with moods seeming to play with optimisim and inspiration through, well, troubled waters. Paul has crafted a wide and lush sound combining the worlds of smokey lounge, electronica and etheral shoegaze with lively instrumentation, rhythmic interplay, driving synths, and a certain melodic finesse.

Relative Q – Beauty and Her Broken Things {[one02]}

Artist: Relative Q
Title:
Beauty and Her Broken Things
Label:
 One
Catalog #:
[one02]
Release Date:
2004/02/03

A familiar face from the staple Chill productions release group and our 101 compilation, we’re proud to have relative q drop his latest on us.

All the elements are here and well presented. The overall harmony strikes one with a rise in reflection and memory, pain and triumph, failure and success. A good example of electronic music’s instrumental replacement of the vocalist where melody and accentuations seemly influence memory and emotion more than mere words can… Creating a world and telling the story of the individual all at the same time.

02 – apart from the one
03 – dredging the river

05 – i knew a girl with the world in her hand
06 – paths
07 – she never even said goodbye
08 – your distant eyes
09 – i knew a girl with the world in her hand (reprise)

For this first release it was set to unite some of the best musicians we know in different genres. Gathered here, they smoothly mind the gap between their respective styles; idm, guitar, one channel, low-fi, ambient, techno, etc., What better way to represent One and protest the shortsighted slant that ‘genres’ create, than to join it all under one roof? With contributions from Makunouchi Bento, Lackluster, Ronny Pries, randomajestiq, relative q, colophon, plosive, Sense, _KhlEr3L, pinkj, and Whitenoiz — You’d be hard pressed to find such a diverse album with this level of talent anywhere on the store shelves.
