This is the last Candy Mind release.

Ever.

Candy Mind has been bought (for a half-decent amount of money) by swedish net-label Subnatura; who has decided to close down Candy Mind for good due to competitive issues.

However, since the Candy Mind crew is made of energy, and energy is subject to a strict global conservation law (that is, it can neither be created nor destroyed), the Candy Mind spirit will (in some way and form) live on. And blablabla.

01. BEST FWENDS – SK8 OR LIVE (GOTO80 REMISS)
Best Fwends loves to skate…and when they are not skating, together with Goto80 (who is wearing his special skating hat, of course), they usually sing about the art of skating. This is an example of the skateor-sing phenomenon.

02. LIQUID STRANGER – I AND I
The letter I is the ninth letter in the Latin alphabet. Its English name is pronounced [a?]. Liquid strangers song is about this letter not only one, but 2 (two!) times! The dot over the lowercase ‘i’ is sometimes called a tittle. In the Turkish alphabet, dotted and dotless I are considered separate letters and both have uppercase (I, I) and lowercase (i, i) forms. This song does not, however, cover such (more advanced) topics.

03. DOROTHY`S MAGIC BAG – PICASSOS PENIS
Pablo Ruiz Picasso (October 25, 1881 – April 8, 1973) was a Spanish painter and sculptor. His full name is Pablo Diego José Santiago Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Crispín Crispiniano de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz Blasco y Picasso. One of the most recognized figures in 20th century art, he is best known as the co-founder, along with Georges Braque, of cubism. This song is about picassos penis.

04. PSILODUMP – ROUTINE E OF THE NO-BOTS
Just because the Bot Exclusion Standard been overlooked doesn’t mean it’s insignificant. As its name suggests, the Bot Exclusion Standard was created to govern robots, and to feed their pets. Psilodump is one of the pets, and is giving us his own (unique) point of view on the subject.

06. LITHIS – THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MEANINGFUL CONTEXT

Robert Malone Bugg was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives for Tennessee’s 7th congressional district. Goto80 is giving us his own, a bit controversial, version of what really happened to this man.

While other labels focus more and more on artist who are “excellent musicians” and “instrumental geniouses”, Candy Mind is taking another perspective of view.

So let´s set this straight: We only want “real men” (disregarding gender) on our label. To be included in the Candy Mind rooster you must be skilled in both stone cutting, welding and hunting.
We refuse to work with nerds who swarm, like insects, around computers and books. No, what we want is the strong, the brave and the fit.

When we put together this compilation we didn´t look that much on whether the music was outstanding or not (you know, even nerds can make music), instead we choose to look at the artist´s military records, mixed martial arts career and years of work in the industrial sector.

It´s with great pride we at Candy Mind can assure you listeners out there that all the music you are about to hear is composed by hard working men of blood and steel who stands up for their label and fights to the end. Failure is not in their vocabulary and they will never give up!

“A virtual 12”?” you may ask, with a corny scepticism glued to your voice. In fact a virtual 12” is much more convenient than a physical one: it takes up less space, it has got less of the bad smell and is much easier to hide away when thieves are coming at night.
If you choose to print it on paper you’ll see even more advantages, like the possibility to store hundreds of printed virtual 12” vinyls in 1 (one!) vinyl cover… And if they get damaged; no problemosadas: just print out another one!

We will continue with this winning concept, and will hopefully be able to, some day, release our own collection binder (virtual of course)… just like Aphex Twin (the master of collection binders).

We decided to pay Liquid Stranger a visit.

He has been hiding in a graveyard ever since Shuggoman tried to put him on fire during a performance in Wien. Apparently Liquid Stranger owed him loads of royalty $$$ from their kinky-ragga-days but refused to pay back. “The money is gone yo” he said when we asked him.

Now our Stranger is on the run and had to sell eight of his tracks to Candy Mind just to get some money for food…and beer…and woman…and guns and such…whatever.

What will happen to mr Liquid only the future can tell. Is he going to survive? Will he flee to an exotic island and disappear forever?

We don´t know, but anyway, we are happy to get the tunes and here they are:

1. THE BATTLE OF MAGALON
As the story opens, the battle of Magalon is about to take place. We join forces with the Liquid Strangers and get to know the dazzing Dragonhawks.

2. VODKA PÅ DAGEN OCH TEQUILA PÅ KVÄLLEN
Most people drink whatever they can find at any hour of the day.
However, Liquid Strangers brother knows there is a perfect time for everything and that goes for drinking aswell…so when is the time for some Tequila and when should you use large amounts of Vodka instead??

3. BEAUTIFUL
They say that beauty is in the eye of its holder, but it can actually also be in the ear of its holder or even the mouth of its holder.

4. TROLLDEG
When Liquid Stranger is tired he enjoys playing with his 43 Tons of Trolldeg. He does all kinds of things with it but most of the time he makes hats for the Candy Mind crew.

5. EXFOLIANT
When the Stranger is in a really good mood after a gig he always puts on some of his finest Exfoliant before he goes to bed. Ok, well, perhaps it is a bit sticky but he likes it anyway.

6. FISKGRÄDDE
It is tasty, nutritious and has a nice colour. Our Stranger use it as often as possible and even invited the Pope over for a fashionable Fiskgrädde-dinner once.

7. ARMADA
Rumours say that in 1987 the Liquid Stranger was abducted by an armada of (illegal) aliens and had to travel all over the world for 3 long years in a dirty trailer filled with Gypsies.

8. PEG
Now, try to clear the board by jumping pegs over other pegs, in either the horizontal or vertical dimensions. The “jumped” peg will be removed from the board. The objective of the track is to have only one peg remaining. Good luck!

Sometimes things are burning. It’s very hard to avoid that fact. It can be a lot of things that goes on fire: houses, people, bushes… and of course also chocolate. First it’s melting, dripping down the chimneys faster than St. Claus, and when it’s even warmer it bursts into flames…

On this compilation we have a lot of different chocolate lovers (And non-lovers. Actually, it’s presumably more non-lovers on this release, bur it’s much more catchy to write about them as chocolate lovers). Liquid Stranger is taking us to the heart of Russia, Little Kid Human is opening his mysterious locker and Psilodump is giving us a glimpse of hell. We love it! Just as much as we love burning chocolate.

…and who doesn’t love the smell of burning chocolate!

Somewhere in Russia, the big computer system Rexkov (which’s controlling everything in Russia) is getting infected. Infected by a virus that is trying to steal all Russia’s secret plans on how to transform America into a portable icebox. Red alert!

2. GISELA – THIS IS HOW IT GOES (DOROTHY´S MAGIC BAG REMIX)
So, now it’s high time for a love song, don’t you think? Gisela is giving us her beautiful voice accompanied by Dorothy’s Magic Bug’s minimalistic yet powerful production.

What’s hidden inside the mysterious locker? … ? Let’s find out!

4. SKRUVMEJSEL – STONKA RAMBOLA
Skruvmejsel takes us to the magical land of Stonka Rambola, a country where all things can (and will!) happen. It’s a fantastic trip, but be sure not to get your feet stuck in the enchanted lamp.

5. PSILODUMP – HOTLINE TO HELL
Everyone believes that Psilodumps home is nothing but an ordinary place. But they are all wrong! Deep inside his closet, which is full of old shoes and Arabic junk, there is a small passage: the infamous hotline to hell!

6. GOTO80 – KNARK
Hatman Goto80 is showing us what happens if you use too much knark in this shady business piece of music. An introvert adventure with a dirty, psychedelic twist.

7. LITHIS – LASERBOY MEETS ROBOTGIRL
When a laser boy meets a robot girl it’s all about passion. Eh, we really can’t tell you here what they’ll be doing…but if you close your eyes and listen very carefully you will get the message anyway.

Already a well-known name in the indie scene for his creative and chaotic meddling with old computers, Goto80 continues to bring us some of the most incredible 8-bit sonics of this world.

With the “Bravo E.P.” Goto80 is giving us a hearty and overdriven welcome in “Välkomstvisan”, an addictive “Semieasy” samba adventure and the dark, fuzzy madness of “Wombatman”.

To add some extra flavour to this release we’ve let Goto80 himself do a culinary rework on “Välkomstvisan” and our Liquid Stranger is let loose once again to take “Wombatman” to another dimension. We also give a warm welcome to mr. Hally from Japan who is doing a remarkable NES remix of “Semieasy”.

This release starts of with a warm welcoming message from Goto80 in “Välkomstvisan”, a mad and overdriven party tune with smurf vocals and an altogether happy vibe…and the typical Swedish out of control attitude.

Prepare for some 8-bit Semieasy samba action. Goto80 takes us to a sunny beach with Piña coladas, palm trees, booty shaking and more Piña coladas. A summer hit!

3. WOMBATMAN
After dark the Wombatman emerges from his dark and filthy cave, spreading his leathery wings before he sets of into the night. Welcome to Wombat land!

4. VÄLKOMSTVISAN (GOTO80 REWORK)
Where the original version of “Välkomstvisan” was all about wild, boozing, rhesus monkey-festivity and waking up in an unfamiliar stairwell with an immense hangover, this remix is welcoming you with a delicious 8-bit banquet. So go on and taste the electronic lobster.

5. SEMIEASY (HALLY REMIX)
Some additional Piña Coladas later Hally delivers his vivid version of “Semieasy”, full of fun and laughter. Krakel Spektakel and Simsalabim!

This is a live adventure of Hectopascal, from the picturesque realms of Veddige. It’s very much, according to them, an improvised one-take story produced with rusty electronic antiquities.

We on Candy Mind are glad to release this unpolished and spontaneous EP; totally free from any pretensions. Ranging from clay music in “Play Doo”, to the hurried count in “Greven Från Köln” and ending with a bang in psychedelic “Svälj Din Saliv”, this is true music, instant lo-fi rock’n’roll electronix!

This release also features remixes from the ruttish Liquid Stranger and chip music hero Dorothy’s Magic Bag.

1. PLAY DOO
Play Doo is nothing but Childhood music made out of clay. Now some advice: just be happy and let all the small clay monsters dance around you and everything will go fine. If not, you’ll put yourself in severe danger.

2. PÅ HAVETS BOTTEN
A crackling waltz from the bottom of the ocean, where the rockweed grows tall and algae are covering the remains of a wrecked drum machine still sending out a weak pulse… and if you listen very closely you may even hear the sound of electronic eels in a distance.

3. GREVEN FRÅN KÖLN
Dressed in cape and armed with his rapier, the count from König comes riding with horse and wagon. Sparkles from the wheels fill the air as he hurries down the cobbled streets. Prepare for some real old school music.

4. KROPPSHYDDA
Let’s leave mother earth just for a short while and experience some quality free-floating in other space. In this tranquil lullaby you might get a glimpse of all kinds of astronomical wonders such as crazy comets and shooting stars.

5. SVÄLJ DIN SALIV
As a final of this live episode, Hectopascal delivers something that is hard to describe as something other than strange. Old 80s toy synthesizers and hand played kick drums battles with strange filter sounds and improvised melodies. And then it all ends with a large explosion… bang!

6. SVÄLJ DIN SALIV (LIQUID STRANGER REMIX)
Instead of listening to the original “Svälj din saliv” Liquid Stranger has been dancing a complex waltz, filled with a lot of inspiration from his lately experience in old style German dances. Join your beloved and dance to all the jelly dolphins the stranger brought us!

7. KROPPSHYDDA (DOROTHY´S MAGIC BAG REMIX)
From our outer space experience of the original version of “Kroppshydda”, we get a return ticket from Dorothy´s Magic Bag and finally end up in a toy store. We all know that it is something, but so many are the people who have asked and had theories about what’s hiding inside the magic bag. Now Candy Mind is demanding some answers.

Starting our journey with happy but impulsive “Häxor”, going further down the bag with the contemplative and meditative hip-hop-track “Dreamlands”, giving us the spectacular blip’n’bass-story “Idiosynkrasi”, making us laugh with silly “Monster” and ending with sorrowful and distressed “Our world”, Dorothy’s Magic Bag may be giving us a clue of what’s inside.

As an olive on the top, this release features two brilliant remixes; one by Psilodump and another one by Liquid Stranger; both showing us a different angle of view on what may be hidden deep down in the magic bag…

1. HÄXOR
From the deep tunnels inside the magic bag come the witches, nasty and furious. It’s a poppy, but very unorthodox, electronica story where you never know what’s going to happen next. Perhaps it will show you some light in the darkness, or maybe the witches will turn it all into a computer game; you never know when it’s witches we’re talking about…

2. DREAMLANDS
Lie down, relax and swim into the sea of dreams. Fly to the dreamlands, the realms of sleep, and experience both wonderful and terrifying things. In this tracks we’re being taken on a dream trip by crackling hip hop beats and relaxing, but strange, melodies.

3. IDIOSYNKRASI
Sometimes stupid-ness and aversion is not enough. We crave for some idiosyncrasy! Dorothy’s Magic Bag is going back to his roots with this video-game’n’bass-track; making us dance in front of our, now antique, home computers.

4. MONSTER
– You’re a monster!
– No, I’m not a monster but you are!
This weird track is giving us the soundtrack of some strange Arabic computer game, with a slight hip-hop monster touch.

5. OUR WORLD
This track speaks for itself. If Candy Mind ever where able to send a message to aliens in outer space to tell them about our world; planet earth, it would be a sound message, with this only song.

6. DREAMLANDS (PSILODUMP REMIX)
Psilodump, too, is visiting the dreamlands, and since the lands of dreams always are changing and shifting, you’ll never see the same dreamland twice. In this dream chapter we’re out dancing in a club up in the clouds. But something has gone terribly wrong! Ohh! We’ve forgotten our pink necklaces!

7. MONSTER (LIQUID STRANGER REMIX)
If you were scared of the monster that Dorothy’s Magic Bag brought you, then prepare for some more scary creatures. Liquid Stranger is bringing us a bunch of furious and irascible monsters.

Chill out in the dill out! The stranger is, with this picturesque hip-hop groove, inviting us into his own private realms of post-spiritual mind candy.
Flinging oneself from beautiful flowers and bees, to the more suspect art of killer ants, “Melody makers” is really something to be a part of.

3.QUOTA TAPE LOADER
As a visit from the land of old cute computer games (that includes, of course, animals with eyes that are out of proportion and with bouncing balls as enemies), “Quota tape loader” is coming to make us happy with a catchy saw tooth bass line and beautiful bell sounds.
The question is; will you make it to the last level, where a hidden Nutritionist is waiting?

4. PERFUME LARVAE
If you ever need a soundtrack for your perfume larvae, this is it; a bonkers track with a smelly attitude, full of laughter and guaranteed to make your nostrils vibrate!

5. SPORES (DOROTHY’S MAGIC BAG REMIX)
From the magnificent symphonic original, the magic bag is making a much more minimalistic and catchy track; beginning with a portable computer game console and ending with a satanic sermon in the church of monsters.
Being childish and quiet poppy, Dorothy’s Magic Bag is contributing with an excellent ending of this release. Fire works and fire lurks!

Snow is falling down even on the tropical Taladmai road, making its ground and vegetation all white. No one less than Paluestil is there, playing in the snow and sending us a Christmas greeting card to tell us about the tropical snow.
Unfortunately the card was posted to late and will not get there in time. Sorry…
