COM12 comes from Helsinki-based artist Twile. His aim is to make music which is intimate yet spacy, intensive yet hazy. It is about combining abstract and melodic elements, in attempt to create spacy, dub-orientated tracks saturated with sadness.

The title-track “Chiaroscuro” can be described as a laid-back, ambient-like piece of electronic music. With clear references to the oldschool, “True Bohemian” takes you on a melancholic journey through space and time.

This release comes with two remixes done by Dataman and Joko13. Joko13’s spacy version of “Chiaroscuro” comes fully equipped with echoing chords, deep bass and intensive click-rhythms while Dataman’s playful remix of “True Bohemian” with its earthy feel and heavy beats shows distinct tendencies towards being what we call a timeless headknock anthem.

Joko13’s latest release takes you on a musical journey from 2004 back to 2001. Starting off with the brand new mech-warrior anthem ‘Salami Tactics’, the Austrian artist once again defines his trademark sound of dark stomping minimal where the specific sound aesthetic is based on the use of digital artifacts and tight repetitive beat structures supply the necessary framework. ‘Morphine’, a track created in 2002, refers to the same principle and the outcome is a uplifting tech-house tune with a casual swing. Going back another year, ‘Part Level Boredom’ with its extensive use of spoken word, delay effects and noise represents the somewhat more experimental side of Joko13’s musical work. Alright! Comatronic is back with number two in the catalogue: the three tracker ‘Success Denied’ by Joko13.
‘Probe Sixty’, a kinda spacy, pleasant and mellow dub tech track with some clicks and bleeps is followed by ‘Harter Plateau’, a somewhat darker pumping tune with a slightly spooky atmosphere. Track number three is more or less a dj tool (hence the title) and slowly evolves from hip-shaking funkiness to become a driving minimal tech-house stomper. Enjoy!

Introducing the new netlabel Comatronic, this release features three tracks.In the opener track ‘Okzober’ by Joko13, a hypnotic varying mellow structure is deliberately assisted by a pounding beat. Track 02 introduces the listener to the sound of Radio Magenta who are known for their releases on Keplar. Andreas Heiszenberger remixed the duo’s ‘Appearance … Not Disappearance’. Heiszenberger already released on Matthias Schaffhaeuser’s well-known label Ware, Eventuell and Normoton. At last ‘Platzhalter’ by Kuba Connect finishes off this debut EP with some stomping shuffle-styled grooves. Enjoy!
