If:Then:Goto – Another Syntax Error {[one022]}

Artist: If:Then:Goto
Title:
Another Syntax Error
Label:
 One
Catalog #:
[one022]
Release Date:
2005/11/18

‘Another Syntax Error’ qualifies simply as good song writing. Nothing tech, nothing too fancy – just good production, soulful vocals, inspiration, and catchy choruses. A mixture of brit-indie, guitar, and electronic music taken down his own path.

Finding Paul Benham’s music was like stumbling across a favorite band I had somehow missed. Then I found out it was only one person, an avid songwriter with a prolific output that would be admired by many musicians.

To top it off and spin things up, ‘ASE’ is closed out with 3 remixes from favorite One artists – including Emil Klotzsch, Bad Loop and Recue.

The artwork for this release is presented with the DIY intent to leave some of the actual process and final design to you. With rough guidelines for cutouts (recommended to be printed on light card stock) and printable stickers.

There are a few images included in the download to help give you an idea of where to start. Enjoy yourself, be creative, have fun. You can’t go wrong.

Cocoawildboars – Paella Cocoa {YKYK002}

Artist: Cocoawildboars
Title:
Paella Cocoa
Label:
 Yuki Yaki
Catalog #:
YKYK002
Release Date:
2005/11/15

The man behind this strange moniker doesn’t seem to be too eager to unveil is real identity or mission to his audience.
And the four tracks of his release on Yuki Yaki are not telling too many literal stories either. But anyway, is not music itself the best and most unpretentious mean of passing information?
Cocoawildboars encode and encrypt their message pretty meticulously – and it seems to directly aim at the dance instincts.
Crispy breakbeats, closely reaching after the nervous fidget feel of breakcore rhythms take the rule over the entire quartet of tracks, as if they liked to drive the listener into some state of lunacy and anticipate the chilled sub-zero atmosphere of the forthcoming winter at the same time. The rhythmic minimalism is flanked by some cranked melody crumbs and awkward bleep outbursts but it is definitely the beats that keep it going.
Some neat ear-candy for the rough-at-heart.

This is the first of a serie of netlabel dj sets that I’m gonna record. The intention is to show some of my favorite tracks and make you dance day and night! This first set is a compilation of new and older great tracks from the netlable scene.

Psilodump – Jag Och Psilodump {mtk155}

Artist: Psilodump
Title:
Jag Och Psilodump
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk155
Release Date:
2005/11/03

Straight from the mind of Swedish hellraiser Psilodump, who’s released on super-smart labels such as 8bitpeoples and Micromusic, as well as being part of the rather smart X-Dump collective, ‘Jag Och Psilodump’ is a spectacularly eclectic 6-track EP which bounces all over the map, showcasing Psilodump’s distinctly weird, distinctly different stylings.

Things start with ‘Winds (Snabber Mix)’, which is all hyper-fast drums and oddly burlesque melodies, before ‘Omtanke7’ cuts in, again with oddly indescribable, almost demo-scene styled melodies, before the almost junglist ‘Jag Hatar Psilodump’ hangs around, all vicious. It only gets better from there on out, ending in a military deconstruction of ‘Winds’ by fellow X-Dump colleague and former Monotonik releaser Dorothy’s Magic Bag. Mommy, we’re scared…

Various Artists – Burning Chocolate {CANDY014}

Artist: Various Artists
Title:
Burning Chocolate
Label:
Candy Mind Records
Catalog #:
CANDY014
Release Date:
2005/11/03

Sometimes things are burning. It’s very hard to avoid that fact. It can be a lot of things that goes on fire: houses, people, bushes… and of course also chocolate. First it’s melting, dripping down the chimneys faster than St. Claus, and when it’s even warmer it bursts into flames…

On this compilation we have a lot of different chocolate lovers (And non-lovers. Actually, it’s presumably more non-lovers on this release, bur it’s much more catchy to write about them as chocolate lovers). Liquid Stranger is taking us to the heart of Russia, Little Kid Human is opening his mysterious locker and Psilodump is giving us a glimpse of hell. We love it! Just as much as we love burning chocolate.

…and who doesn’t love the smell of burning chocolate!

1. LIQUID STRANGER – DEN INFEKTERADE TERMINALEN
Somewhere in Russia, the big computer system Rexkov (which’s controlling everything in Russia) is getting infected. Infected by a virus that is trying to steal all Russia’s secret plans on how to transform America into a portable icebox. Red alert!

2. GISELA – THIS IS HOW IT GOES (DOROTHY´S MAGIC BAG REMIX)
So, now it’s high time for a love song, don’t you think? Gisela is giving us her beautiful voice accompanied by Dorothy’s Magic Bug’s minimalistic yet powerful production.

3. LITTLE KID HUMAN – LOCKER
What’s hidden inside the mysterious locker? … ? Let’s find out!

4. SKRUVMEJSEL – STONKA RAMBOLA
Skruvmejsel takes us to the magical land of Stonka Rambola, a country where all things can (and will!) happen. It’s a fantastic trip, but be sure not to get your feet stuck in the enchanted lamp.

5. PSILODUMP – HOTLINE TO HELL
Everyone believes that Psilodumps home is nothing but an ordinary place. But they are all wrong! Deep inside his closet, which is full of old shoes and Arabic junk, there is a small passage: the infamous hotline to hell!

6. GOTO80 – KNARK
Hatman Goto80 is showing us what happens if you use too much knark in this shady business piece of music. An introvert adventure with a dirty, psychedelic twist.

7. LITHIS – LASERBOY MEETS ROBOTGIRL
When a laser boy meets a robot girl it’s all about passion. Eh, we really can’t tell you here what they’ll be doing…but if you close your eyes and listen very carefully you will get the message anyway.

_L’Arbre d’un Train_, a compilation.

Pretty. Sad. Lovely. There’s just enough variation to both make you want to fall asleep to it and make you want to open your ears up in amazement. With the first sign of autumn, we use music to remember our lost years, and we do not forget our happiest days.

Featuring netaudio legends Grandma (Monotonik, Khonnor of Type Records), Proswell (of Merck Records), Sense (Neo Ouija and Eem records), Transient (Monotonik, Miasmah, Camomille), Xerxes (Hellven, Camomille, Apegenine), a slew of other netlabel popstars (Valisproject, 143, Kaneel, Imtech, and Blisaed) and brilliant rising talent (Xtatic, Mike Shusta, Troupe, Nil, Valzi, Fah, Mister Cat, Sunburn, Malmen, Nick Beman, and Insektr.)

Nearly eight months in the making, _L’Arbre d’un Train_ is well worth the wait.
