here we go again. the second release is out and kicking like one hundred mules 🙂 tweeter has done excellent job with “mayfield” and proves to be absolutely one of the best multichannelists out there. personally i can say that this track can be listened dozens of times through on-a-row and it still doesn’t make you feel bored or uncomfortable. it’s a pearl and it’s our very first multichannel release. also coming soon are the multichannel remix of “reject” by loke and some funky, dope dutch earcandy from orlingo. so keep tuned on this voodoo channel 🙂

boom! you may ask why the fuck another music group AGAIN! as there are dozens, maybe even hundreds of ’em already. so the answer is simple, it’s there just to decrease the competition.

yet this is not a special group, and the music is not any more special than in any other groups. one speciality might be though, that the bounds of the music style are being drawn more stricly than in most of the other groups, since i’ve noticed that organizers in many other groups have loosed their hold on that matter. i won’t expose the strict style at this very moment, but you will find it out soon..

and the last good reason to start this project was that since i’ve been in mono for quite some time, i wanted to take my first own steps so here we go and i don’t give a fuck about negative opinions, we exist and.. all of us are one people..

Artist: Ramone
Title:
Smooth Operator
Label:
Mono211
Catalog #:
MUL#21
Release Date:
1997/07/09

Oo, we iz _definitely_ operating correctly with this awesome hiphop jam from Ramone. Too blunted, cannot operate heavy machinery? 🙂 Heh, bass, saxophone, guitars, beats like you’re drowning in mud – just sit back and luxuriate? The track also features vocals from Rakim, one of the alltime hiphop heroes. Which is nice. 🙂 Rules rules rules.

Dreamfish – Unreal EP {MOD#72}

Artist: Dreamfish
Title:
Unreal EP
Label:
Mono211
Catalog #:
MOD#72
Release Date:
1997/07/05

A very interesting EP this, sent to us from his sekrit hideaway by Dreamfish in his last dispatch, along with the already-released “Armani’s Dreams”. These are self-confessedly ‘oldskool’ jungle tracks, with something of a 1993 spirit about them – but they’re actually damn original cos he doesn’t sound like he’s trying to emulate the Amen b-boy crew. In other words, by going back it goes forward. Amen. 🙂

Relief+Skizo – Ping Bong {MUL#20}

Artist: Relief+Skizo
Title:
Ping Bong
Label:
Mono211
Catalog #:
MUL#20
Release Date:
1997/07/01

First song of July, and a long-awaited new release from the Splif Prods crew. The amount of songs they produce is phenomenal, which always means it’s pretty tricky choosing, but after a little pointer from Relief, this track stood out majorly. It’s funky, it’s dirty, it kicks like a mule, and it’s everything your mother warned you about. 🙂 Btw, try to play it in FastTracker if you can – certainly MOD4WIN doesn’t like it and makes some interesting, if completely wrong static-noises. 🙂

Whiskas – Braah {MOD#71}

Artist: Whiskas
Title:
Braah
Label:
Mono
Catalog #:
MOD#71
Release Date:
1997/06/23

The second release from Whiskas on Mono, and a rather classy track here. Spooky, isn’t it? The chords would scare anyone on a dark night, at least. 🙂 It’s nice to get a change from Mono’s customary triphop and jungle stylee, too – we guess people forget sometime that there’s a third part of our infernal triangle, and it’s very much the minimal techno angle that turns us on. A little weird? Maybe. But variety is the spice of life. 🙂

Tracklist:
01 – Braah [MOD] [FLAC] [MP3]

Artist: Iso
Title:
 We’re Here
Label:
Mono
Catalog #:
MOD#70
Release Date:
1997/06/19

The return of Iso to the Mono stable with a rather excellent new track – Orb-like start, then triphop all the way. Great drums, too. Another interesting fact that you might not realise would be that the vocal sample came from.. aww, shucks, I can’t give it away. Work it out yourself. 🙂

wow. and ee. spells wowee. doesn’t it? a delayed release for vim!’s impeccable jungle track, but it was worth the wait. in the song-info, he claims it’s a ‘mess’. hah, if it’s a mess, it’s an awesome kickass mess. get down and dirty, won’t ya? 😉 vim! is now available for supermarket openings and personal appearances via isdn. 😛

Twilight – Hidden {MOD#69}

Artist: Twilight
Title:
 Hidden
Label:
Mono
Catalog #:
MOD#69
Release Date:
1997/06/12

Whooooa. Swooping in over the horizon, it’s another dangerously funky track from English wunderkid (hah!) Twilight. It’s got the lot, the distorted 303 phun, the oldskool rap, the sledgehammer beats, and the scratching to make you spill your drink all over the place. 🙂 Watch out for more Mortimer Twang remixes of Twilight in the near future, incidentally – those two got some real synergy going on. Whatever that means. 😛

Bogdan – Humfree EP {MUL#18}

Artist: Bogdan
Title:
Humfree EP
Label:
Mono
Catalog #:
MUL#18
Release Date:
1997/06/09

Finally sorted, a debut guest-release from Bogdan. Although we may have mentioned something about him before, all you need to know is that his email address is karl@cse.unl.edu, and he’s previously been very sceptical about releasing through groups. This is certainly original – perhaps closest to the spirit of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin in their most junglistic modes. But different. As they say, nice.
