Tweeter – Planet Boelex {mtk128}

Artist: Tweeter
Title:
Planet Boelex
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk128
Release Date:
2004/03/30

We don’t tend to release many single tracks at Monotonik anymore, preferring EPs or albums. But when cult Finnish ex demo-scene composer Tweeter, perhaps best known for his late ’90s releases on Substance’s mod.label Voodoo, contacts us and offers us his first finished track since 2001, and it happens to be just gorgeous, what do we do? Well, we make an exception, of course.

But how to describe? Well, similarly to his previous Monotonik release, ‘Me And My Friend Lobstah’, Tweeter shows his ‘classic idm’ side, but ‘Planet Boelex’ isn’t simply an Artificial Intelligence clone, rather striking out with intricate percussion, many, many layers of echoing synthetic leads, and the feel of something strangely timeless. And that shift of gears about four minutes into the track… oh my. Net result? Now we wish we could commandeer the Tardis and do some time shifting of our own, so Tweeter would finish an album for us before Tweeter Jr. arrives – one tune every 3 years simply ain’t enough.

Tweeter – Me And My Friend Lobstah {mtk046}

Artist: Tweeter
Title:
Me And My Friend Lobstah
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk046
Release Date:
2001/02/08

Having previously been associated with Substance’s excellent net.mod.label Voodoo, Finnish musician Tweeter comes out with his debut for Monotonik, and it’s a real treat.

“Me And My Friend Lobstah” is a sinewave-smooth electronic trip with boil+bubble drums and widening echo-styled passages leading out to the fill-out, the breakdown, the true wide-screen style. It’s strangely reminiscent of an earlier era, the early 90s, but in the best possible way – not retro, just as good as the original stuff.

the amiga only party ‘motorola inside 98’ is over and i feel wasted after no warm food, less sleep on a hard floor and hell of a lot boozing. it’s still affecting 1,5 days after the party 🙂 anyway, the important thing was that i met tweeter there, and he promised this new release to me and here we are now. a FABULOUS track by the very top artists in voodoo. the happy news is that he isn’t leaving the group as he was aiming to earlier. the reason why the amount tweeter’s releases may decrease a bit is that he is not making much XM’s anymore and we in voodoo don’t support other formats (.IT and the buzz tracker) due to the fact that we want to be equal on most platforms, not just the PC. enjoy this masterpiece.

news.

roz and linus left the group cos of the so called part time inactivity. good luck to them in their new groups what ever them are. substance won the music competition at ‘motorola inside 98’.

at first i must say sorry for being so inactive during the last month but i have been fucking sick, and it just won’t let me off it’s fingaz 🙂 but as always, there is light in the other end of the tunnel and ive now got three more mods from loke, oh gosh and myself to be released. you don’t have to wait too long, i promise.

so the first release after this long break comes from tweeter. it’s one of his fabulous ones again… this time drum’n’bass influenced, and i couldn’t lie too much if i’d just say that he sounds a bit like squarepusher in this very very VERY kickin’ track 🙂 you gotta love this one! tune up.

ah! here comes some massive multichannelism from tweeter again. tweeter has made a track with kraftwerkish main melody, but i must admit that it fits in and does the job fine. the beats are typical tweeter electronica allthough, them sound a bit like the ones he had in ‘melancholy’ but since the track goes on so atmospherically and sounds fabulous i decided to release it, and you bet he’s worked on it as i got a preview already many weeks ago 🙂 and what comes to the beat matter, who gives a shit about it since 4×4 beat has been already used millions of times techno as amen beat in drum&bass (=

wow! this sounds *FUCKING* great! tweeter has now done something what beats his first “hit” ‘mayfield’ in every way. allthough, who couldn’t do great and atmospheric tracks on 26 channels, but good musicians can’t be copied because they are unique enough to compose their own kind of music. i love this, that’s all i can say and i can’t describe more about this track because i can’t find enough beautiful words to say. superb work, tweeter.

here we go again. the second release is out and kicking like one hundred mules 🙂 tweeter has done excellent job with “mayfield” and proves to be absolutely one of the best multichannelists out there. personally i can say that this track can be listened dozens of times through on-a-row and it still doesn’t make you feel bored or uncomfortable. it’s a pearl and it’s our very first multichannel release. also coming soon are the multichannel remix of “reject” by loke and some funky, dope dutch earcandy from orlingo. so keep tuned on this voodoo channel 🙂
