The long-awaited return of the brothers stim, who recently soundtracked the Danish entry to the UK Breakdancing Championships at the Brixton Academy, and hit us pretty damn hard with this “We Have Explosive”-style exploration of the gap between jungle and bigbeat. Is it just us, or is it positively dangerously good? 🙂

Maan, we wish those Danish supadudes sent us a free pair of safety goggles with every release. Relief+Skizo blow the whole damn joint up with this barely logical, getting kinda vicious noisefest. Heck, the last half of this track sounds like it was made in a blender, slowly sucking the Prodigy down into a large plughole. And out the other side into _hell_. And what’s up with the fly invading yr speakers at the start? Mayhem.

Release Date:

Some brand new material from the excellent Splif Productions, and it’s some kinda classy, slow-as-hell ‘triphop’. Or whatever you wanna call it. It’s well-mannered, dangerous, and looking to mess up your head, in any case, so watch those synapses, it’ll shove em back and feast on your neurons, sneaking in when you didn’t even notice. Or something like that. 🙂

I think the word is ‘magisterial’. Or thereabouts. Fat beats, hype scratches, dark synth licks, and an excuse to blow your eardrums. Which it’s never a bad idea to turn down. Or, as the Gravediggas so eloquently put it – “bang your muthaf***ing head’. 😉 heh. 😉 In any case, sometimes no words correctly describe a tune, and this one speaks for itself. Enough.

[please note, MOD4WIN mangles the playing of this track somewhat – try to replay it in MikIt or FastTracker.. or something that plays it right, heh!]

Take the rough with da rougher, courtesy of da Splif Productions guide to sonic trickery. Or, as it says in the song-text – “Prodigy – we ****ed em” 😉 Ok, so this is hardly comforting home listening for first thing on a Monday morning, but it’s certainly dangerously funky. More to come from the dangerous Danish duo, take heed and take check.

Mommy, they’re scaring meeee. The Splif Productions duo hit us with another pair of tunes, if only to show us just how much paranoid toking they’ve been doing. Liberally smothered in Massive Attack-styled slow-as-hell-mo atmosphere, it’s time to duck behind the sofa and wait for the things to start coming through the walls atya. Respect. The title of the EP, in case you ask, is because this stuff is just like being slowly encased in amber. Struggling all the time.

First song of July, and a long-awaited new release from the Splif Prods crew. The amount of songs they produce is phenomenal, which always means it’s pretty tricky choosing, but after a little pointer from Relief, this track stood out majorly. It’s funky, it’s dirty, it kicks like a mule, and it’s everything your mother warned you about. 🙂 Btw, try to play it in FastTracker if you can – certainly MOD4WIN doesn’t like it and makes some interesting, if completely wrong static-noises. 🙂

A return, and an intriguing one, by the Danish duo, where they explore what happens when jungle gets pushed into an echo chamber with some rusty, booming bass. Apparently, this competed in the SymMekka music competition, but I expect the Germans were a bit mystified. 🙂 Still, it’s a perfect trick to play on da Mono listening audience and see how they skitter and hide. wot? 🙂

Mono iz back, with a double-header from Relief+Skizo. This showcases that, umm, they’re really pretty cool. 🙂 In fact, these two tracks are probably the least trippy of the many unreleased Splif Productions tunes, so wait for the rest of the set. And chill out, maaaaan. 🙂

Jeez, these info-files are getting cheesy. Sorry, mom 🙂
