A return, at last, for the rather versatile Substance, and here he is demonstrating succinct knowledge of the beep and tuck. Almost mechanoid, this is somewhere between Kraftwerk and Mu-Ziq, and has those gorgeously kiddie melodies so beloved of Warp-ish characters all the way from Sir Aphex to the recently recognised Plone. Back into the fold then, and good to go. Wheeeee.

It’s tricky. In some danger of becoming the Penn and Teller of the underground scene – now you see him, now you don’t? With the undercurrents of the macabre but the straightahead gobsmacking in there too, it’s a valid comparison, but, let’s face it, Bay Tremore just ain’t that.. sick. Although perhaps some of his basslines are a little.. evil 🙂 Anyhow, in the latest instalment he takes on some of the recent mono211 releases from ramone and substance, gives them a good seeing-to, and dumps them in the gutter, bloodied but somehow a whole lot tougher. c-c-call the c-c-ops. 🙂

Release Date:
1998/07/17

this is a remix of previously released track on voodoo by tweeter – called ‘lesbians on wax’. the name of the remix contains two anagrams of the original track title. as stated in the previous release that tweeter was not leaving the group was a misunderstanding and therefore i have to give out the information that he actually did leave us already. sad as it is but we still try to survive. we still have loke, the guru of eletronic master pieces and dharma, the most suggestive jazz freak out there 🙂 peace. and keep supporting.

news.

tweeter left.

a new BBS called ‘basement underground’ joined the force. big up to the sysop lucido there.

Spring is in the air, and it’s time to get all funky n jazzy with the second instalment of the Mortimer Twang remixes. There’s no doubt Mortimer and Black Sista were a big influence on Mono, and to repay the debt, his right-hand man Ohgosh and fellow Black Sista Kuu both give him some wicked remix styles. This one’s for you, Mr.Tee 🙂

Release Date:

From an idea originally suggested by Oh-Gosh, and quite possibly Mortimer himself, this joint release (heh, he said joint!) with Black Sista is a collection of remixes of Mortimer Twang, Sweet Mortimer Tee, M.Twang Esq. With absolutely no irony, this release is dedicated to Meester Twang himself. Lucas, you rule. Don’t forget to check da Black Sista homepage at http://blacksista.mypage.org for more good stuff, of course. 🙂 And thanks to all the artists involved for making this rather pleasant. 🙂

Ooch. Some serious roughness from the normally gentle and caring Substance. 😉 Well, ok, he’s hardly been a saint, but this is downright prosecutable. Jazz bass, twinkling hi-hats, and a buzz, buzz, buzz buzz in your eardrum bass from somewhere da other side of Pluto. The planet, not the cartoon character. Stand back before igniting.

i never thought i´d release this one on voodoo. it really doesn´t fit in the style but since h0l refused to release it on mono, i thought it just have to get it released properly. so it´s a club remix of thefoxii´s last release on mono. even in fact this remix was written immediately after the release of the original track, it didn´t get released until now, sorry kidz, it won´t happen again 🙂 it´s against our priorities, har har. well what can i say, try enjoying the happy vibe.

then news bit. orlingo has got his brand PEEZEE now and he´s happy, or he´s not, don´t know. he thinks it´s a cold machine, and so do i. unfortunately it offers better environment for a musician than the good ol miggy 🙂 anyway he changed his handle to ´oh gosh´. he´s funky. soon on wide range of chans.

those people on the mailinglist who wants to receive their voodoo’s as ZIP instead of LHA should mail me immediately, tell their names and that they’d prefer ZIP for LHA, and i’ll fix it too. archives in aminet will be LHA’s.

dipped my head into the bongo and triphop rhythms and warm summer grooves i came up with this track. it’s nothing too original but still i feel quite satisfied of it. dive into the sound and imagine the band playing outside of small mediterranean cafe on a narrow road. drummer, bass player, guitar player, keyboard player and a dj.

after hearing many shouts from here and there, i’ve re-written the readme file which seemed to be uninformational and inconvenient. now it should give every detail you need to know before downloading the archives on your computer. thanks to chavez and nemesis1 for informing about this.. problem?

Artist: Substance
Title:
Shaman’s Nature
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
rel#o4
Release Date:
1997/09/28

A new Monotonik track, and this time a fine release from Kuu. Actually, this one reminds us very much of the classic Harthouse/Eye-Q style of techno, which can only be a good thing. There’s enough percussion in here to stun a horse. In case people are still wondering how Mono artists manage to get so much into 4 channels, there’s an utility called MOD2SMP which allows the composer to compose a whole drum-pattern in 4 channels, and then output it as a sample which can be used in just 1 channel. Cool, huh? 🙂
