Abstract Hip-Hop grooves and digital cut and paste maneuvers from this new king of the quarter. Four tasty tracks in a cheerful mood of abstract vibes, going from latin deconstructions to more darker and deeper soundtracks.

Tasty ep from this new project generated by Guillermo Guevára, member of the famous duopandamix (static discos). On this four tracks kampion moves us into an urban soundtrack using as vehicle synthetic atmospheres and rhythms that when grouped may be described as abstract laptop-hip hop.

The discrete use of latin percussions helps generating its own identity, where minimalism, idm and street rhythms crossover to create an evocative work that will helplessly lead us to move our body in a dislocated way..

Tracks de funky click house, manipulaciones digitales ludicas de funk, e incluso un homenaje a Murcof, + 2 remixes, uno de Plug y otro del propio Alvaro Ruiz

Funky click house track, digital manipulations of funk, and even a homage to Murcof, + 2 remixes, one of Plug and other of Alvaro Ruiz.

Àlvaro Ruiz, probably the most prolific electronic music producer from our country, known for his projects Ruisort, Balboa and his real name as an ambient producer, were he combines algorithms and atmospheres. Filtro presents “Safety Positions”, originally produced in 2001, but unknown until today, except “safety position #4 (Leda y el fucking gansito)”, which was included in the compilation “Minimas Texturas 001” from Discos Konfort, this EP sounds effective and fresh. The references are from Jan Jelinek and Thomas Jitku to Vladislav Delay, and a tribute to Murcof. Safety Positions, title based on security cards from airplanes, goes from funky click house in the first two tracks, to playful digital funk worlds and extravagant as the fourth episode, and the imaginary dialog between Murcof and Dr. Farabeuf. A remix to “safety position #1” made by Plug is included, plus a remix to “Deja te conecto” from the Mexican indie band Zoe made by Ruiz himself.

Kplecraft – KNMS-001 {mtk146}

Artist: Kplecraft
Title:
KNMS-001
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk146
Release Date:
2005/05/08

In tracking some of the more obscure niches of the Japanese retro-bleep music scene, Monotonik has picked up a gem or two in the past (see: Blasterhead). And we’re pleased to say that we’ve struck oil again (or at least, some gushing black pixels) with the first album from Japanese duo Kplecraft, ‘KNMS-001’, a deliciously alternative blend of Game Boy bleep and jazz-techno improvisation.

Here’s what you need to know. Kplecraft consists of Kuske (Nintendo Game Boy with Nanoloop 1.2, saxophone, effects, etc.) and Eddie (percussion, conga, etc.) It is, more or less, a bleep side project of the Japanese jamband PCIA, in a similar way, perhaps, that Eat Static and Ozric Tentacles interact, and oddly enough, it’s the blend of jamming and solid electronic beats that somewhat recall both of those bands, as well as other marvellous oddities like the Holistic Records crew from the Isle Of Wight.

For ‘KNMS-001’, we start with the mechanical jolt of ‘Rupa’, all robot perfection before the echosaturated saxophone jamming kicks in, and its straight into the delicious mix of real instrument and robotic backing that permeates the entire album. Particular highlights? The rather beautiful, swirling melodies of ‘718 Suite: Part 1’, and the half bleep, half insane freak-out that is ‘NNNN’, before finishing with two songs that are .NSF (NES sound chip) only, with ‘8-Bit Goa’ a surprisingly expansive and fitting finish. Rock.

Hectopascal – Alive In Veddige {CANDY005}

Artist: Hectopascal
Title:
Alive In Veddige
Label:
Candy Mind Records
Catalog #:
CANDY005
Release Date:
2005/05/07

This is a live adventure of Hectopascal, from the picturesque realms of Veddige. It’s very much, according to them, an improvised one-take story produced with rusty electronic antiquities.

We on Candy Mind are glad to release this unpolished and spontaneous EP; totally free from any pretensions. Ranging from clay music in “Play Doo”, to the hurried count in “Greven Från Köln” and ending with a bang in psychedelic “Svälj Din Saliv”, this is true music, instant lo-fi rock’n’roll electronix!

This release also features remixes from the ruttish Liquid Stranger and chip music hero Dorothy’s Magic Bag.

1. PLAY DOO
Play Doo is nothing but Childhood music made out of clay. Now some advice: just be happy and let all the small clay monsters dance around you and everything will go fine. If not, you’ll put yourself in severe danger.

2. PÅ HAVETS BOTTEN
A crackling waltz from the bottom of the ocean, where the rockweed grows tall and algae are covering the remains of a wrecked drum machine still sending out a weak pulse… and if you listen very closely you may even hear the sound of electronic eels in a distance.

3. GREVEN FRÅN KÖLN
Dressed in cape and armed with his rapier, the count from König comes riding with horse and wagon. Sparkles from the wheels fill the air as he hurries down the cobbled streets. Prepare for some real old school music.

4. KROPPSHYDDA
Let’s leave mother earth just for a short while and experience some quality free-floating in other space. In this tranquil lullaby you might get a glimpse of all kinds of astronomical wonders such as crazy comets and shooting stars.

5. SVÄLJ DIN SALIV
As a final of this live episode, Hectopascal delivers something that is hard to describe as something other than strange. Old 80s toy synthesizers and hand played kick drums battles with strange filter sounds and improvised melodies. And then it all ends with a large explosion… bang!

6. SVÄLJ DIN SALIV (LIQUID STRANGER REMIX)
Instead of listening to the original “Svälj din saliv” Liquid Stranger has been dancing a complex waltz, filled with a lot of inspiration from his lately experience in old style German dances. Join your beloved and dance to all the jelly dolphins the stranger brought us!

7. KROPPSHYDDA (DOROTHY´S MAGIC BAG REMIX)
From our outer space experience of the original version of “Kroppshydda”, we get a return ticket from Dorothy´s Magic Bag and finally end up in a toy store. Here rubber accordions and xylophones in miniature accompany plastic trumpets. Prepare for drama when the Bag goes mental with his secret GM sound library!

Jack Haberfield – Origins EP {[one019]}

Artist: Jack Haberfield
Title:
Origins EP
Label:
 One
Catalog #:
[one019]
Release Date:
2005/05/04

Last year, Haberfield’s 12″ release “through the looking glass” earned him a spotlight on the BBC after dominating The Breezeblock airwaves on Radio 1. Soon, his music found its way onto the playlists of DJs such as Dave Clarke and Jeff Mills.

That release showcased his panache for harder edged techno, but Origins rewards its listeners with depth and melody. Here, Haberfield explores the fringes of classic techno while still lending an ear to more modern influences via scattered minimalist beats and chilled atmospheres.

Carefully wrought with insistent melodies and the occasional dash of dub, the EP culminates in a mesmerizing flow that will pull you into his growing base of listeners.
