allright. back on the track again (radalla 🙂 i’ve been really busy during the last month fixing my computer and internet connection, as i turned a page and got myself a faster connection. however now i’m ready to give you one great new track from a/oc.

this is a bit older, still unreleased track from a/oc in where he has made the guitar chords and melody combinations with his good friend timo blues. timo is also responsible for playing the guitar and this co-op seems to work out well. i usually don’t give much thought on guitars in electronic music but of course there are always differences. i hope you enjoy this nice piece of music again.

these are the very days we are celebrating our fourth birthday. i hope all the people who have made voodoo known to those hundreds of people now know who they are ‘cos this respect goes out to you. four years ago when we started, we were a small, quite unknown music group, but today many people have heard of us and are coming and eagerly want to hear new material. this time we present this absolutely fantastic electrofunk journey by a/oc (aki of oulu city 🙂

some parts (especially the drums and ehh, the title) of this track reminds me of that old aphex twin style, something from the 80/90’s that can be heard on the ‘selected ambient works 85-92’ album. however this one gathers up more of synth and funk flavours especially with the great flabby bass line. this one’s a beauty for sure and i certainly hope you like it too.

what you’re about to here is something absolutely special. i was totally surprised when a/oc sent this wonderful piece of music to me yesterday. it is something that words can’t describe, something so beautiful. in fact it went straight to no.1 of voodoo releases and it has a touch of perfection. when you play this, be sure to play it all the way through without pausing or fast forwarding any bit (cos it’s a long tune!). here’s some challenge for the next release, and btw. the title means ‘white’ and the track is as pure and clean as white. it is perfect.

hello, merry christmas and holiday season. we have reached the magical amount of 50 releases. let this be our christmas present from us to you. heh.. it only took us approximately 3,5 years but if you watch behind now, you’ll hear the overcoming quality in every release and that’s something. also something to announce is that our aminet resident has moved to a new, much better location. from now on you’ll be able to get the lha versions from the ‘mods/vdo’ directory in aminet.

this time we give you the extremely fabulous remix of previously released alternative auto by a/oc. he’s the one behind this edited version too and really has brought some new melody parts to the track, so that now it even sounds better than originally.

if you think you’re good ascii artist and would like to get your name seen on every voodoo release, you’re welcome to design us a new format for the .diz, .nfo and .readme files. so it’s worth to try… and remember, good musicians are always accepted if they catch the style.

summer holiday’s are far gone behind and we are back in business. as it’s been quite obvious already, voodoo has stopped being one of those active type of music groups. we are focusing on quality and innovations and that keeps us going on still. it’s nice to hear comments every now and then that some people really are so deeply interested on what we are doing.

this autumn starts with a/oc’s quite melancholic track which suits to this time of year very well. in many cases autumn is a time of depression and lack of motivation, people even commit more suicides in the autumn and winter than in any other time of the year. still, there’s some hope left when you have played this track 🙂

after some short period of silence, we are up to release new material from a/oc. the track achieves some funky bigbeat atmosphere by using only small beats though. the bass loop is pretty catchy and it’s hard to describe the feelings this song gives, but personally i’m turning more into the ‘silly’ level 🙂 aki has played the guitar by himself and inserted some skit bits into this track.

we bring you again, mysterious world of electronics by the master of weird sound textures, a/oc. it’s actually funny how he combines those industrial sounds with modern drum machines. we have heard same sort of atmosphere already before in his debute release. a/oc has found his style, which is definately something to look up for. this time we’re presenting ‘philips’ which comes from our northern finland headquarter, oulu.

as we are currently quite short of members 🙂 sadly, we still manage to keep the quality and release this absolutely rare and fantastic material from our finnish headquarters. this one is again from our precious new attachment a/oc. a straight translation of the title would be quite likely “are you pissed?”. anyway, i don’ know what a/oc was thinking while composing this track but i wasn’t pissed when i was playing it the first time, and i suppose you won’t either. enjoy this quality track.it belongs to his autoseries from which his debut was a sneak preview.

somthing unexpectable has happened. i’ve been spreading the information of voodoo being closed down due to loss of interest. this of course is mostly my own fault, it’s me who had no time nor interest for this project but one of the reasons for the quiet phase sadly is that after a departure of various artists there simply was no much activity. we lost great guys like tweeter, dharma and linus just to name few. a new page has been turned and after losing a bunch of people we have got fresh blood to the group, this new guy is of course a/oc, a friend of loke whose debut we are releasing today. this also represents the rise of voodoo because i didget some kicks for the activity after a/oc joined. also, new members can be recruited so if you think you handle the style so precious to this group you are welcomed to e-mail me with one example of your music. but to ease this project i’d hope you to have some experience on the previous tracks released to avoid from being disqualified. voodoo is strict of it’s style. e-mails must be directed to kuu@ion.sci.fi with subject ‘voodoo apply’.

so i am finding out if it’s still worth to go on with voodoo and now it is all up to you. but rising our head still doesn’t mean a new release every week. either there will not be a homepage which has been asked many times. no mailing list for the productions. only way to get your releases is the old fashioned swapmail or aminet ftp. allthough if you have an ftp server and enough room and interest to build up an voodoo section, mail me also.
