choenyi – Defervescence {YKYK009}

Artist: choenyi
Title:
Defervescence
Label:
 Yuki Yaki
Catalog #:
YKYK009
Release Date:
2007/02/01

Choenyi kicks off his Yuki Yaki debut with a 6-track EP. This is his third appearance after the remix on YkYk008 and his compilation track on YkYk005.
He has created cold and dark tracks oscillating between Minimal Techno and Soundscapes. Profound beats are playing a main part in the conception of the tracks. The swinging “Doma Fourth” and the stomping hymn “Tri Ling” can be located near Dance floor music. Spheric helicopter flights through a dark night.
Choenyi’s other issue is Dub. He has made it up of little, reduced reverb-rooms and the selective use of delays. No element is being pushed in front and klicking drums leave a lot of room for the dark dub of choenyi.
The remixers took a certain element of the track and moved it in to the fore. Lao and Nicolas Aguero aka Sumergido pushes “Pollen” more into the classical Dub scheme. Daniel Carew changed “Doma Fourth” into a dreamy and happy tune. Manziping puts some extra funk to “Mime Dub”, making it ready for peaktime dance floor.
Last but not least Dr. Nojoke use samples from “Pollen”, “Taurean Storm”, “Tri Ling” and “Monophase” to create his “Defervescence”-extract.

Manziping – Valpo {YKYK008}

Artist: Manziping
Title:
Valpo
Label:
 Yuki Yaki
Catalog #:
YKYK008
Release Date:
2006/10/30

Having the Andes mountains as natural reverberation device it’s no surprise that Alisu (= girl) and Rolancho (= boy) spend a good deal of time to blend ravine-deep textures with intense rhythms – playing hide and seek somewhere in the grey urban area between minimal techno and glitchy experimentalism. Get caught by the beat, take a breath and back-pedal its meaning in your own neuro patterns, get caught again, and so on and so forth.
The concept of Manzping’s first EP for Yuki Yaki – after numerous releases and compilations for Chilean netlabels – is a refreshing dive into a sea of blue hypnosis, a splendid ride between captivating beat pulses, sparkling electric discharges and floating ambient carpets. This is a taste of South America that will wipe off even the most flagrant omen of winter depressions in these days.

Who doesn’t like the summer?
“Levemente” by Sumergido reminds us of the warm season. The four relaxed electro tracks of the EP range between House and Dub, always light and a little playful.
You just notice that the summer of Buenos Aires never ends.

Emmerichk – Nebadon {YKYK006}

Artist: Emmerichk
Title:
Nebadon
Label:
 Yuki Yaki
Catalog #:
YKYK006
Release Date:
2006/07/29

Emmerichk’s second EP finally made it over the big pond and is a definite proof that Mexico’s rising scene for electronic music is easily able to compete with Europe’s artistic sprawl.
Nebadon offers Minimal House tunes with an edge. Crispy clicks and cuts garnish warm floating chords at cosy minor over a well composed layer of hypnotically pounding rhythms – never to fast to spoil the relaxed scenery.
And it is a real pity that all delightful listening has to end after only six tracks. Frequent use of the Repeat button is highly recommended.

Artist: Zofa

Private

Catalog #:
YKYK003
Release Date:
2006/01/15

Is it the abrasive sensation of the megalopolis Mexico City or is it more the shivering awe in the shadows of an ancient Aztec temple that keep the tunes of this Mexican Electronica craftsman confidently on the edge between beauty and bit reduction.
Just envision an immaculate House tune being fragmented into a thousand shiny dazzling splinters and then being recomposed by the artist showing an unconcealed indulgence for tiny little flaws and scratches.
Zofa keeps a moderate pace on his 5-tracker for Yuki Yaki which appears to underline the comfy furniture reference of the name itself. Zofa seems to be more after the slightly abstract dim-lit glamour of an artisan bar than after floor-breaking excitement.
This minimalist cocktail has to be served chilled!

Release Date:

The man behind this strange moniker doesn’t seem to be too eager to unveil is real identity or mission to his audience.
And the four tracks of his release on Yuki Yaki are not telling too many literal stories either. But anyway, is not music itself the best and most unpretentious mean of passing information?
Cocoawildboars encode and encrypt their message pretty meticulously – and it seems to directly aim at the dance instincts.
Crispy breakbeats, closely reaching after the nervous fidget feel of breakcore rhythms take the rule over the entire quartet of tracks, as if they liked to drive the listener into some state of lunacy and anticipate the chilled sub-zero atmosphere of the forthcoming winter at the same time. The rhythmic minimalism is flanked by some cranked melody crumbs and awkward bleep outbursts but it is definitely the beats that keep it going.
Some neat ear-candy for the rough-at-heart.

Artist: PELLARIN
Title:
DEPENDENCY 1-6
Label:
 Yuki Yaki
Catalog #:
YKYK001
Release Date:

It always sets a friendly smile on your face if you realise that an artist is capable of more than just repeating himself. Everyone would have expected some more relaxed soundscaping from Danish producer Lars Pellarin but with this EP you will definitely be surprised.
Minimal House is the magic that enchants all five epically extensive tracks. Edgy clicks in fraternizing conjunction with sweeping House chords float on a driving heartthrob of crispy beats – reaching a clubworthy intensity that’s never been sensed in Pellarin’s former works. No sign of discord beclouds the reign of the rhythm!
We recommend you to play it loud and with a decent level of boost in the basses!
