Blisaed – As Time Passes EP {mtk113}

Artist: Blisaed
Title:
As Time Passes EP
Label:
Monotonik
Catalog #:
mtk113
Release Date:
2003/07/10

We’re delighted to showcase the first Monotonik EP from American artist Matt Centonze, under his Blisaed moniker. Matt’s released on smaller netlabels and his own site as Echion and Mistrial before, but the “As Time Passes EP” drifts through some beautifully produced indie electronic moods, alternately sophisticated and restful.

First off, it’s “Megan’s Guitar”, with some serene spoken word and strummed guitar melding wonderfully, before “Far From Home” works up the percussives into more of a understated frenzy. Then, newest track “Connect” let everyone connect into Blisaed’s superdelicious blissful world, before Matt’s remix of (previous Monotonik releaser) Darkhalo’s “Analog Snow Bunny Girl” gets all orchestral and lushly analog on our collective eardrums. Good stuff indeed.

Darkhalo – Alloy {od036}

continuing in that obscure mood we started with this cup of releases, this alloy definitely melts up in a mechanical environment emptiness and fullness at the same time.
big and blared kicks accompanied by distant piano loops together with full surrounding thunders leave space to more ethereal and airy pads; a broken, deep trip-hop piece is the result.
the artist seems to care about his well-known capability of mastering different music styles, and with this rel darkhalo builds a cathedral to abstractness.

Darkhalo – Stratosphere Sniper {mtw022}

Artist: Darkhalo
Title:

Release Date:

We’re delighted to put out another release from West Coast US breakbeast, Darkhalo, with whom we released a rather well-received .MOD a while back. We loved his sorta progressive vs. nu-skool, distinctively Californian rolling beats, obviously born outta the City of Industry, and all the yummier for that.

Therefore, “Stratosphere Sniper” is another prime example of the CA massive blowing things up for smarts, and we’ve been mentally grooving (we’re too dorky to dance) pretty much all this week to the heavily overlaid, intricate breaks and gorgeously produced doublespeed bass-snare-snare. Ah, there you go! We’ve actually just got down some Leeroy Prodigy style gangly moonwalk moves that fit it perfectly. What’s your favorite groove position?

A guest release from that rarity on m211, someone from a continent outside Europe. This time Darkhalo steps in to show us what an interesting reading the Americans are taking on the whole d+b thing, encompassing Californian breakbeat, acid b-lines, and even some Transeau shaken up in there – just the right side of catchy, we fear, and fully compatible with the breaks and beats that m211 insists on releasing in such a hipflask lackadaisical fashion..
