After appearing on COM01 – Various Artists – Giants Of Flash, Kuba Connect is back with a solo release on Comatronic. While elements of trance, synthetic sound layers and a phat kicking bass drum are the main ingredients for ‘Savant Fou’, ‘Bonusdub’ is dominated by kinda oldschool-ish and classical dub-tech flavours. The title track ‘Bin’ comes fully packed with uplifting beat patterns, restrained pads, crackles, noises, effects and rhythmic shifts.

To put it short: Comatronic stylee to the fullest, baby – enjoy!

We at eclectro.spivakrecords.com have been fans of Psilodumps music for a long time. We’ve watched as he created early 8 bit antifunk for the players over at micromusic and seen him grow to the micro-superstar he is. We made contact with Psilodump a few months back and asked him if he’d concider doing some work for us, and he was happy to. A few months later, “Washed” surfaced on our hard drives. We were overjoyed with what we were hearing. Now like a secret thats too good not to tell we’re sharing it with you.

Psilodump creates yet another stellar E.p. that defies categorization, giving the listener a full range of emotion that truely sets Psilodump apart from the pack. Each reinterpretation of the title track, Washed, gives accent to every nook of the recordings — it certainly feels handmade.

Sliding lithely out of Russia, we’re delighted to present a split EP by Stanislav “Slam” Vdovin and Eugene Martynov, also known as Unit21, with whom we’ve been talking to for some time after we met them through their friends, multiple Monotonik-releasers Sleepy Town Manufacture. Unit21’s blend of beautifully understated, melody rich electronics is something to behold indeed, and we ended up settling on this small, but perfectly formed 2-track EP.

So, basically, we have ‘Lain: I Care’ by Unit21, leading off with a gorgeous ambient track, all floating and pirouetting and flexing its radiance at us, and STM bringing up the rear with ‘Lain: Say You Care’, a spattering, beat-flecked reply, again, marvellously melodic. This is the kind of EP we wish could go on for ever, but we’ll settle for the infinite loop option – it actually makes sense, in a supportive, ‘there for you’ type way, we promise.

Vincent Fugère (aka Vizion) has effectively created an original soundtrack for the last man on earth, Koei. Composed from the haunting imagery of Aion, a graphic novel that itself may never fully exist on paper, which I can only imagine lurks in the creators mind as a continuously wandering and evolving existence.

This is both fitting and ironic… as in these times of war and unrest, many often weigh their subconscious with the end of the world compared against the current one we live in. While theme and soundscape oriented Koei:Aion is thoughtful enough to keep the listener engaged, absent of idle wander like so many similar works. Soft, subtle, and melodic, showing a great deal of patience and space… and an intriguing concept.

Three beautiful pieces of dub-influenced electronics ranging from minimal house to electro: Delighting pads, thick chords and classic beats are combined with an extensive but nonetheless sophisticated use of delays. The dark pumping title track ‘Mesolinear’ with its cold and crispy yet still melodious chord patterns is followed by ‘Placid States’, where the combination of electro grooves, light pads and synths create a beautiful unhurried atmosphere. Finally ‘Wintermaer’ finishes off this consistent release with a decent framework of enchanting pad layers, a catchy bassline and subtly reduced beat structures.

The legend continues? The latest from Breitbannt of the Schleudertrauma camp features Ronny Pries (aka ronny priest, rp, rktic). Encouraging Ronny to deliver this first slice of minimal techno for One was done with deliberate action;

His work with Farbrausch, Forte Records, Thinner, Rohformat, the 101 comp (and many others) in our eyes slots him as one of the internets dominate forces of minimal techno. This is slightly more straightforward than Ronny’s usual work, but thats part of what makes Breitbannt special. Whether or not you’ve heard of him or Breitbannt yet is a problem you need to deal with, and you can do so now.
