perhaps it’s ironic that ‘it only hurts when i think about it’ is hard to think about, even by our standards. it’s so innocuous that it practically begs to be ignored. if you manage to bring it to the forefront of your attention you’ll be pleased by the surprisingly evocative texture of the lone instrument — like a plucked oboe, or a reeded violin.

much of the music we release is the perfect accompaniment to a good night’s sleep… this track, however, is a soundtrack to a sleepless night. it’s driven by a mildly dissonant theme (not unlike the alien riffs synonymous with AFX’s Ambient II) that changes colors like a chameleon. be forewarned that there are a few moments that might be considered jarring, which may be a first among tracks in our collection.

here’s something slightly out of character for us… it’s beatless to be sure, but it’s not quite ambient, in truth. “i can’t swim” is a short but demanding listening experience and stands in stark contrast with the majority of the ansiform catalogue. very unsettling on first listen, but it becomes eerily comfortable with increasing familiarity.
